There is a relatively new phenomenon sweeping the current social scene: dating. Dating seems to be appealing to increasing numbers of gay men as evidenced by standing room-only crowds at an event dedicated to dating held at the lesbian and gay community center on a recent saturday night. These days, of course, it is not only a gay men’s health crisis, but one that affects increasing numbers of heterosexual men and women, and lesbians. Dating‘s popularity seems to be a backlash from the carefree, promiscuous, and often anonymous sex days of the s and s. During these periods of time the virus seemed to be spreading almost unchecked as a result of the permissive lifestyle led by many gay men. In the s, however, women, heterosexuals, and people of color have the fastest growing rates of infection. The line of thinking about dating is that it might be the best way to explore and develop healthy relationships. Since dating has always been a tradition in mainstream culture, heterosexuals and bisexuals have had a head start on it while lesbians and gay men are catching up on learning the ins and outs of it. For the experienced dater or the novice, there are trials and tribulations involved.

We purchased this iconic site in May for our first fund Ardian Real Estate. Following a restructuring and refurbishment phase, we will be able to rent out these four sites to luxury boutiques as well as a large complex of new offices and a business center at the heart of the block. The special thing about this refurbishment project is the combination of renovated historic townhouses and the brand new buildings situated behind them. To make room for the latter, we will demolish a building dating from the s and s.
To deliver this major project, we have hired the CALQ architectural firm and entrusted the decoration of the lobby and business center to the internal designer Tristan Auer. Our main priority is the comfort of the future tenants, which is also why we decided to introduce green spaces. For this project, excellence is achieved through reflecting on the durability of the style as well as the careful choice of materials.
This commitment has resulted in a major effort to bring existing buildings up to standard: we have already removed 55 tonnes of asbestos and 68 tonnes of heavy lead. The choice of sustainable architecture was also made as part of the need to adopt an environmental approach. We are not applying our high standards solely to the refurbishment. We also plan to add an original and striking scaffolding cover. We therefore called on the agency Terres Rouges and worked with the photographer Sacha Goldberger for a portrait gallery featuring those working on the site and the future boutique clients.
A site that the general public will rediscover as the sidewalk in front of the buildings will once again become accessible and the ground and first floor boutiques can be explored. Today, demolishing and rebuilding is virtually impossible in the center of Paris, as buildings are certified and protected.

Arranging a suitable match involved family, friends, associates, and political allies. In aristocratic families, marriages were a currency of dynastic and diplomatic exchange as in the case of Bianca Maria Sforza —and they were not much different among the merchant families of republican cities. Marriage not only reflected order, it was a civilizing influence on which the whole of society depended.
Brides, especially in Florence, were typically much younger than grooms. The age disparity had a number of consequences. Young men were more or less free to visit prostitutes, who were semi-sanctioned in certain outlying districts. Relations between male youths and older men were regarded as fairly routine, particularly in humanist circles, in which ancient Greece provided a respected model.
And, of course, the large number of very young brides corresponded to a large number of widows. Instead, widows returned to the control of their own families, who now had to reassume their support or scramble to arrange a second dowry sufficient to attract another marriage proposal.
In a tradition of literature remarkable for its exacting and brilliant achievements, the Elizabethan and early Stuart periods have been said to represent the most brilliant century of all. English literature of his reign as James I, from to , is properly called Jacobean. These years produced a gallery of authors of genius, some of whom have never been surpassed, and conferred on scores of lesser talents the enviable ability to write with fluency, imagination, and verve.
From one point of view, this sudden renaissance looks radiant, confident, heroic—and belated, but all the more dazzling for its belatedness. Yet, from another point of view, this was a time of unusually traumatic strain, in which English society underwent massive disruptions that transformed it on every front and decisively affected the life of every individual.
